Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Simple Money mobile application, web application, and related services (collectively, the "Service") provided by Simple Money SRL ("Simple Money", "we", "us", "our"), a company registered in Romania.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Simple Money is a personal finance management application. It allows you to manually track income and expenses, set budgets, manage goals, calculate debt payoff timelines, and generate financial reports. The Service does not connect to bank accounts and does not provide financial advice.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that all information you provide is accurate.

3. Your account

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
• You must not share your account with others or allow unauthorized access
• You must provide a valid email address for account verification and recovery
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
• If you suspect unauthorized access, notify us immediately at support@simplemoney.app

4. Plans and pricing

4.1 Free tier

The Free tier provides limited access to the Service: up to 50 transactions per month, 1 account, 5 custom categories, and 30-day analytics. The Free tier is available indefinitely at no cost.

4.2 Premium plans

Premium plans (Monthly, Yearly) provide unlimited access to all features. Pricing is displayed on our pricing page and within the app. All prices are in EUR unless otherwise indicated.

4.3 Founders Lifetime

The Founders Lifetime plan is a one-time purchase that provides lifetime access to all Premium features. It is limited to the first 200 users and will not be re-opened at the same price once sold out.

4.4 Reverse trial

New accounts receive 14 days of full Premium access at no cost and without a credit card requirement. After 14 days, the account transitions to the Free tier unless you subscribe to a Premium plan.

4.5 Billing and refunds

• Premium subscriptions are billed in advance (monthly or annually) via Stripe
• You can cancel your subscription at any time from Settings or via the Stripe billing portal
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• We do not offer partial refunds for unused portions of billing periods
• The Founders Lifetime plan is non-refundable after 14 days from purchase

5. Your data

5.1 Data ownership

You own your data. All financial data you enter into the Service belongs to you. We do not claim any ownership rights over your content. We process your data solely to provide the Service.

5.2 Encryption

All financial data (amounts, merchant names, notes, account names) is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. Each user has a unique encryption key. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

5.3 Data export

You can export your data at any time in CSV or JSON format from Settings. Premium users can also generate PDF reports.

5.4 Data deletion

You can delete your account from Settings. Account deletion is scheduled with a 30-day grace period during which you can cancel the deletion. After 30 days, all data is permanently and irreversibly deleted.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access the Service without our written permission
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
• Use the Service to store or transmit malicious code
• Circumvent rate limits or free tier restrictions

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, code, features, brand, and documentation, is owned by Simple Money SRL and protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our written permission.

8. Disclaimers

• Not financial advice. Simple Money is a tracking and calculation tool. Nothing in the Service constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Consult a qualified professional for financial decisions.
• Calculation accuracy. While we use precise mathematical formulas (integer arithmetic, no floating-point rounding), projections (FIRE, debt payoff) are estimates based on inputs you provide. Actual outcomes may differ.
• Service availability. We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect availability.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Simple Money SRL shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for fraud or gross negligence.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Simple Money SRL harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

11. Termination

• You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it from Settings
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, after providing notice when reasonably possible
• Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately
• Sections that should survive termination (data ownership, limitation of liability, governing law) will survive

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania. Any disputes shall be resolved by the competent courts in Romania. If you are an EU consumer, you retain any mandatory consumer protection rights granted by the laws of your country of residence.

For EU consumers: you may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/odr.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
